About US

colorado dog training and behavior consulting

Founded in 2010 by Jessica Hein, CCPDT Certified Professional Dog Trainer and IAABC Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Sit.Stay.Fetch! offers in-home dog training and behavior consulting using effective, progressive, reward-based training methods.

Through the process of rewarding, shaping, cueing, capturing, and relevance coaching, we teach the dog the benefits of both compliance and making good choices. You will learn the communication patterns, aversive-free dog training techniques, and routines necessary to develop a  healthy, happy relationship with your canine friend for years to come!

As a Colorado small business, we take time to engage with each and every one of our clients. We are not driven by making profits; we want to educate and provide support to our clients to ensure they can enjoy their dog, every step of the way.

We take a holistic approach to training and improving the lifestyle of dogs. We train dogs (and their people), but we also discuss canine communication, behavior, socialization, healthy nutritional choices, routine healthcare, and more. We want to ensure behavioral, physical & emotional wellness in our beloved dogs.

Jessica Hein

Jessica is a Colorado native and animal lover. Even as a child, it was apparent she had deep connection to animals, and raised a myriad of pets— from frogs and lizards to rabbits, cats, birds, and of course, dogs! Her childhood dog, an American Eskimo named Cody, showed her that dogs display empathy as he comforted her while sad, and this forever shaped her perspective and awe of the dog.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver, and began training dogs professionally in 2007. In 2010, she formed Sit.Stay.Fetch! and the company has since flourished thanks to client and Veterinarian referrals. Jessica is a CCPDT Certified Professional Dog Trainer, and IAABC Certified Dog Behavioral Consultant.

Jessica relishes teaching manners to lively puppies and adolescents, and specializes in developing dog training and behavioral therapy plans that help families with their fearful or anxious dog's behavioral wellness. She is passionate about helping rescued animals become the best versions of themselves once placed in loving homes, and strives to help every family she works with learn to understand and communicate with their canine companion(s).

When she's not working with dogs, Jessica is likely playing music, gardening, or enjoying the outdoors with her family, including her beloved dog, Coba (Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd Mix, pictured on homepage). Her former, and greatly missed, Pointer/Lab mix, Kai, is pictured here.

Abi Ameen

Abi earned her degree from the University of Puget Sound and developed her interest in canine behavior while working as a professional dog walker in Seattle. She later completed the Applied Animal Behavior program at the University of Washington, earning her UW-AAB Certification, and is currently pursuing an MSc in Clinical Animal Behavior at the University of Edinburgh, with focused study in anxiety, reactivity, and behavior change.

Abi is a member of the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and approaches training from an evidence-based, welfare-centered perspective that prioritizes clarity, emotional safety, and ethical intervention. Her work focuses on helping dogs and their people navigate frustration, miscommunication, and the everyday challenges that can strain the relationship; translating behavior into something understandable and actionable.

Rather than relying on force or suppression, Abi emphasizes skill-building, clear communication, and thoughtful behavior modification to create lasting change. Her goal is not just improved behavior, but stronger relationships, greater confidence, and a more functional, enjoyable life together.
